Freedom Community Alliance is a Christian Charity based in North Devon that seeks to demonstrate the heart and love of God in our community. Any volunteer will need to demonstrate an open and accepting attitude towards the Christian ethos & values of the charity.
Activities Volunteer Role Description
FCA has a ‘freedom to explore’ programme that helps reconnect service users with activities that provide purpose, engagement and healthy lifestyle alternatives. In a world where it can be difficult and expensive to pursue such activities yet with clear research extolling the benefits, this programme has significant impact on mental and physical health.
Events usually happen between 11am and 3pm, under the supervision of the health and lifestyle coordinator. You will provide non-specialist support to clients under FCA staff. An ability and willingness to drive a minibus would be preferable but not a requirement.
Those qualified to deliver an activity should discuss this at interview.
The main aspects of the role may involve:
Working alongside the coordinator to support one activity per week
Logistics and administrative support
Assist in setting up, delivering, and tidying away activities
Facilitate and partake in group activities
Drive a minibus
Contribute to development of the activity programme
Person specification
Training will be provided for the right person however the ideal individual will:
Be reliable and hard working
Have a positive outlook and a non-judgemental attitude
Be welcoming and accepting of others
Have a basic understanding of the demands of supporting an activity
Work well in a team
Be happy to accept directions from a supervisor
Be physically fit (a background in playing or coaching sport would be useful)
Have good communication skills
Wear suitable clothing i.e. for active work
