Support our work Reception Volunteer FAQs What happens at reception? Reception is the first point of contact when someone visits the Centre and our aim is to make it friendly and welcoming. It is where people sign in to the building, drop off donations and where we take incoming phone calls. What will I be doing? You will be working alongside our full-time receptionist to assist people who come into the building. This could involve signing visitors in, helping people who are dropping off donations, inputting some data or answering the telephone. How long are the volunteer shifts? Reception is open between 9am and 4pm. Morning or afternoon shifts are available and are usually 3 hours long. What skills/experience do I need? Some previous experience in a customer facing/reception role would be advantageous as is good personal presentation. It is also important in this role to be friendly, accepting, and non-judgmental. Confidence in using Microsoft Word and Excel is also desirable.
